Hello! I am a 27-year-old genderqueer person living in a small, somewhat cluttered apartment in Baltimore, MD. This is probably only going to be of interest to those in an emergency situation or other really boring people like me, because I’m only able to offer my apartment when I am present, and during the week that means leaving around 6 am and coming home between 7:30 and 9. Might not be bad for a weekend though!
Me: Geeky, talkative, trans activisty type person, very much a morning person.
My couch: Is actually an air mattress that can be set up in the living room. Apartment is cleanish but cluttered, so if you have bad dust allergies, probably not for you. Have wifi. Not physically accessible (steep flight of stairs). I do sign (ASL), and am HoH myself.
Location: Pretty awesome. If you stay during the week, as I mentioned above, you’d need to leave when I leave for work in the morning and return when I come home, but the neighborhood is very friendly. Feminist/anarchist bookstore with computers you can use very close, public library a short walk, also museums and other free-type things close by. Free classes nearby at the Baltimore Free School. Laundromat two blocks away. Cheap restaurants. Free bus very close, can use that system to get to East Baltimore, the Harbor, Federal Hill, Fells Point. Also regular bus and light rail nearby.
Food situation: No meat in the house. I eat fish but don’t generally cook it because of sanitation concerns. I can provide food for a few nights, and $5 for lunch if you really need it. I am pretty frugal, so food is good by not very gourmet, and if I don’t have any advance notice we might be scrounging a bit as there isn’t a grocery store nearby. I’m happy to cook vegan or accommodate allergies.
House rules: this is an entirely smoke, drug, and alcohol free home. One couch surfer at a time and no guests. Duration of stay is a few days max—might stretch to a week in exchange for doing some dishes, a little light tidying around the house. (I commute to work and never have time for any of that!) If you’re staying on a weeknight, I do need quiet after 9 pm.
So, if I haven’t scared you off by all the stipulations, I’m more than happy to have a guest! :-) I just like to be narrow on restrictions for my own well-being and peace of mind.
