***UPDATE***

Hello and Happy New Year!

So, as some of you may have noticed, I haven’t been incredibly active lately.  Due to a combination of school, holidays, and a number of personal issues, I haven’t been as able to keep this site as updated as it should be.  I apologize, and I promise I’m gearing up for a huge overhaul.  That being said, I’ve received a number of messages already with some great suggestions that I plan to implement really soon, including a better format for tag/location lists, and a general improvement on the layout of the site.  If you have suggestions for anything THN related, please don’t hesitate to send an ask!  I really appreciate everyone’s patience and understanding with respect to delayed posting and my general absence.  I promise, 2013 is going to be a really fantastic year for THN. To sum up some of the upcoming/planned changes:

Additionally, I am BADLY in need of some mods/admins to help me out.  I have asked for mods before, but tumblr has created a number of difficulties in that while I can add moderators, they cannot access the inbox.  Admins can access the inbox, but admin status cannot be revoked.  The issue here is that I don’t want to give admin status to someone and then not have the ability to revoke admin access if that person needs to be removed as an admin.  If anyone has suggestions or solutions for this, please send an ask or email me at dylan@transhousingnetwork.com.

Feel free to circulate this post so folks can send in their questions and suggestions — I will be spending the next two weeks intensively working to revamp the site and make THN the best resource it can be!

Anonymous asked: why does it take so long for posts to go through

I’m so sorry.  I realize that I haven’t been clearing the inbox as frequently as I need to, and I will be working to fix this.  As many of you may know, I’m running this site essentially on my own.  I am a full time university student, and while that isn’t an excuse, my semester has been incredibly hectic and left me with little excess time to dedicate to THN.  I hope to reconfigure my schedule to make more time to post listings and respond to asks.  Thank you to everyone for your patience and understanding.

Anonymous asked: Hypothetically, a cisgendered person with a couch and an eagerness to help people in need should consider putting up an offer here, right? Including that slight detail in the description would be necessary, for people who don't feel comfortable living with a cisgendered person, but it's still a perfectly acceptable offer to make, isn't it?

Cis people are more than welcome to post “Have Couch” listings.  However, we do ask that you tag your posts with “cis” and disclose the fact that you are cisgender in your description, as it is important that trans people find temporary or permanent housing in which they are safe and comfortable.

HAPPY NATIONAL COMING OUT DAY FROM THE TRANS HOUSING NETWORK! ♥

stay safe out there!

SUGGESTIONS?

Hey there!

So THN has been around for a little bit now, and while I’m trying my best to create a useful and safe network for trans people, I figured it couldn’t hurt to ask all of YOU what you’d like to see in the near future.  Seriously, this can be anything.  You want a better looking website?  Tell me.  You have a great idea of how to better organize submissions?  Tell me!  Send any and all questions/comments/concerns/suggestions to the ask box and I will do what I can to post and respond to each and every one! :)

SUBMIT THN LISTINGS VIA TEXT MESSAGE

You read that right!  THN can now accept submissions via text message!  If you don’t have internet access but are still in need of a place to stay and want to submit a listing, you can send a text message to (747) 444-0402 and include information about your situation, how to contact you, etc.  These text submissions work the same way regular online submissions do - I will try to tag them appropriately and post them as quickly as I can.  Unfortunately, your standard messaging rates will apply (so some people may have to send shorted submissions), but I hope this will give some people an opportunity to get the help they need even if they don’t have an internet connection available.  Again:

TO SUBMIT VIA TEXT MESSAGE

send a text to (747) 444-0402 stating your name, your location, contact info, and any other relevant information.

PLEASE signal boost this post and let everyone know about this update :)

USC Daily Trojan - "Student creates network to provide housing for transgender people"

Apologies for the lack of listings recently

I’m currently in a week-long band camp (marching band what what!) and I just haven’t had any time to check the inbox.  I’m on a break now and will try to clear out what I can, and I promise that by Tuesday the 28th, the inbox will be clear and ready for new listings!  Thanks for all the support and signal boosts, everyone :)

we’re almost at 1500 followers!

Thank you SO much to everyone who has been supporting THN through submissions, reblogs and signal boosts, and just getting the word out in general.  We have some awesome, huge things planned for the near future and we couldn’t do it without everyone’s support.  Look out for updates soon and keep the submissions coming!

<3,
THN

P.S. The logo redesign contest ends July 15 (that’s only NINE (9) DAYS from now!)  Voting will commence the day after, July 16.  Please keep submitting designs and posting on the facebook page! :)

TRANS HOUSING NETWORK LOGO REDESIGN COMPETITION!

transhousingnetwork:

Hey all!
So as you may have noticed, our logo is a little…plain.  While I’m sure we can all appreciate Dylan’s MS Paint skills, it may be time for a redesign.  That’s where you all come in! From now until July 15, THN will be accepting submissions for a new logo which will be featured on our Twitter, Facebook, and our main website!   Send all submissions to transhousingnetwork@gmail.com, or send them in a submission at www.transhousingnetwork.com.  We’d love to keep with the blue/pink/white transgender pride color theme, but other than that, anything goes! We want to see what all of YOU can come up with :) Remember, submissions are due by July 15 at midnight.  Go!
